Datalinx is Motorola Zebra Most Innovative Solution

Datalinx were announced as Motorola's Most Innovative Solution of the Year

at the annual Motorola Executive Partner Conference in Budapest, Datalinx were awarded the prestigious Most Innovative Solution of the Yearaward in recognition of their work and development with RFID tags in the field of tracking and data collection.

The Solution in action:
With the British Touring Cars Championship (BTCC)

Working in partnership with Dunlop (who are embedding RFID tags into their race tyres) the Datalinx solution identifies the specific car and serial number of the fitted tyres as the cars enter the pit lane at speeds upto 100km/hr (70mph).

This information is transmitted back to central control through the Motorola wireless network in real time and also to handheld MC70 scanners for race official scrutineers to then verify the tags at the pit garages.

The real time functionality of the software is also of benefit where changes in the weather during a race cause tyres to be changed. The commentators can be automatically fed details of the changes to explain the difference in lap speeds and times.

Datalinx and Motorsport - the background
Historically Datalinx has been working within the motorsport industry since 1997 when they began supplying specialist labels for bonding to the tyres and Motorola scanning hardware to read the labels within this prestigious series. The rest as they say, is history!
